Re: Christmas work bash
I enjoyed mine though the food was fucking awful.

Thankfully I was only there for the free lager and would happily write off the entire sit down section.

Firm is absolutely full of quality birds and people up for a laugh, so a free bar and loads of noncing is good for me.

Re: Christmas work bash
They pay me money to be at work. That money funds my life outside work and a big part of that is my social life.

I can't imagine anything worse than socialising with a bunch of people who only have in common the fact that they have to be paid to be there.

Re: Christmas work bash
I work with absolutely lovely people, but almost all of them are much younger and I'm rubbish at socialising, so I didn't go.

Laughing is frowned upon in the office.

Everyone except me is devoutly religious and voraciously conflate frivolity, ignorance & disrespect.

For the last 3 years I've been based in/out of a non-christian country.

Come to think of it, I was also based in/out of a non-christian country for the 10 years prior to that.

I'm self employed and work alone so don't have a works bash. The closest thing I can think of was yesterday when I was finishing work I watched a mischief of magpies going about their business. They were noisy and rowdy and were annoying a nearby crow. I found it interesting.

Same here.
I've got to the "what's the point?" stage.

Re: Christmas work bash
Always found these events strange affairs, either people didn't want to drop their guards and they behaved the same as they did in the office, or some just went mental (probably don't get out much) which use to be amusing.

Mine was last night at the Cercle Municipal Luxembourg. For an investment bank. masked ball and all very Eyes Wide Shut. Great Hors d'oeuvres.

Fidelio anyone?

Re: Christmas work bash
Out of the 20 on our do I'd say 8 of us socialise a lot at work anyway (lunchtime sessions etc) so it's no different... the others will probably have their meal and just fuck off and leave the drinking to the hardened alcholics...

Didn’t see the point. All female staff. Motown tribute act. Meal and dance.
I don’t dance.
Means a night of utter tedium and too much booze at hotel prices.
